Synopsis:
In the tradition of Reefer Madness comes Meat Weed Madness, a wildly
whacked-out comic thriller following four southern belles as they face
off against a surly Minotaur and his family of hillbilly hipster drug
fiends!
There is a magical plantation that lies in the not so deep South
called Meatweed Manor, where the farmers cultivate the most powerful
ganja on the planet from human flesh. When smoked, this wacko tobacco
drives men mad and women mad with lust. On one fateful day, four
lovely Southern belles find themselves drawn to Meatweed Manor, where
they must confront the evil minotaur Bullpucky, who is determined to
smoke them one by one!
This shocking, trashy and surreal film satirizes the traditional
B-movie formula of sex and violence with bizarre and outrageous humor!
Read the synopsis above, then read it again. This is easily the
craziest, zaniest film mine eyes have ever laid sight upon - my mind
is still reeling and trying to comprehend the sensory overload "Meat
Weed Madness" put it through. 4 southern ladies (who have an affinity
to not wearing much clothing), hillbillies, weed, and a Minotaur. Mein
gott.
While this is definitely not a "good" film in the standard sense of
the word, I can't recommend this enough to readers of this site, as I
guaran-fricking-tee that this will be unlike anything you have ever
seen before. It's indie DV filmmaking, and incredibly, truly,
unequivocally creative filmmaking - while it doesn't always succeed in
the many ambitious attempts it tries to pack into the running time,
it's always a hoot to watch the carnage unfold onscreen.
Unbelievable - thank-you Troma, for unleashing this upon the
unsuspecting masses. The world is now a better place.
Video: How's it look?
The fullscreen (1.33:1) DV presentation is solid & clean - it
definitely has the "home made" look to it, but that just adds to its
perverse charm!
Audio: How's it sound?
While the Dolby stereo mix is audible throughout, it's also very...
hard on the ears. You can hear everything that is being said, but
that's part of the problem - there's some shrill shrieking and
dialogue that will melt your brain into puddles of mush, and it all
booms out of your speakers in Dolbyriffic sound.
Extras: What all's on the DVD?
- director's audio commentary
- introduction from Lloyd Kaufman
- "The Battle Between the Burps and the Farts" short film
- trailers
- many Tromaville merchandising plugs
Closing Thoughts
Truly psychotic & mesmerizing indie filmmaking + tons o' Tromatic
extras = very original entertainment, unlike anything you've likely
seen before!
